Effective from 6 November 2026 · version 2026-11

This policy explains which personal data PlateRunner processes, and why. The data controller is Piklo Systems, CVR 32709192, Tjebberupvej 101, 4300 Holbæk, Denmark. Contact: kontakt@platerunner.dk.

What we store

When you create a key, we store:

For misuse detection, we also store a one-way hash of the number plates looked up with each key for 30 days. A hash cannot be turned back into the plate; we only use it to see whether a key is looking up an unusually large number of different plates.

We do not store IP addresses in our databases. Your IP address is only used in the server’s memory to limit the number of requests, and is forgotten when the time window ends.

We do not store any data about vehicle owners — only technical vehicle data.

If you write to us using the contact form, your name, email address and message are sent as an email to our inbox.

Why

We use this data to provide the service: sending you your key, counting your usage, letting you know when you are close to your limit, taking payment, answering enquiries and preventing misuse. The legal basis is our agreement with you (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)), our legal obligations such as bookkeeping (Art. 6(1)(c)), and our legitimate interest in protecting the service against misuse (Art. 6(1)(f)).

Cookies and tracking

The website uses no cookies and no tracking or analytics tools. Fonts are hosted on our own site, so your visit is not passed on to, for example, Google.

How long

We keep your data for as long as your key is active, and for 12 months after that. Hashes of looked-up plates are deleted after 30 days. Accounting records, such as invoices, are kept for 5 years as required by the Danish Bookkeeping Act.

Your rights

You have the right to access the data we hold about you, and to have it corrected or deleted. You can also object to the processing, have it restricted, and receive your data in a portable format. Write to kontakt@platerunner.dk.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Danish Data Protection Agency (Datatilsynet), datatilsynet.dk.
